RIM - edge ocean and ancient maps

I've made some concave models out of paper so I can play around with layering of images.
THe basic setup would be that the edge, peripheral of the sphere will be the most active part of the movie,
and the center - would be almost empty, or very simple or slow.
I am looking at a lot of acient world maps (image here - recreation of Homer's world view)
where the ocean is the super surrounding,. THe edge, maybe oceanic will be the space where the most complicated and turbulent things will happen - going into jungle towards the center and ending in blind spot in the middle, or slow spot.
So think about peripheral vision as the most resorceful. It should somehow work with sound being "extreme on edges" if that means anything to you.
